The Live Performance Australia (LPA), established in 1917, is the peak body for the Live Entertainment Industry in Australia.
VISION
Through the power of the live entertainment experience,
we will shape a creative future for Australia by
contributing to our nations cultural and economic wellbeing.
Our Vision strives to position the LPA as a key player in maximising the value government, business and the Australian people attach to the Australian Live Entertainment Industry on the basis of the significant contribution our industry makes to the cultural, commercial and economic prosperity of our nation.
MISSION
The Mission Statement of the LPA is to:

be the peak body for the Australian live entertainment industry;

present a strong, united and influential voice on behalf of our industry;

provide outstanding representation, advice and service to our members;

encourage the highest standards of professionalism and corporate citizenship in the management and conduct of our industry; and

ACTIVITES
The LPA undertakes activities in 4 key areas:
- Workplace Relations
Maintaining industry wages and conditions in conjunction with unions, negotiating collective Certified Agreements and individual employment contracts, representing members in unfair dismissal claims, providing general membership advice on Workplace Relations issues, contributing to the development of broader policy through the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
- Policy and Strategy
Strategic planning, industry planning, brand and audience development, development of a policy platform, industry self-regulation on matters such as ticketing and censorship, lobbying government and providing member advice on issues such as taxation and investment, immigration, copyright, occupational health and safety, child employment, superannuation, licensing, privacy and insurance.
- Membership Services
Promoting the industry by conducting the Helpmann Awards and the Inaugural LPA Summit for the Australian Live Entertainment Industry, preparing sponsorship and visa applications for overseas entertainers and support personnel, providing members with information through web site, newsletters, circulars and publications.
- Finance and Membership
Managing the financial reporting and performance of the LPA and administering membership relationships.
IN ADDITION, THE LPA...
- Is registered
under the Workplace Relations Act 1996 and is respondent
to the major industry awards. The LPA is the only employer
body in the industry authorised to negotiate and arbitrate
awards, which underpin all individual workplace agreements.
We also provide advice on individual agreements.
- Pursues
a positive and constructive approach to policy development,
union negotiations, industrial and resource issues.
- Provides
production & employment planning advice.
- Negotiates
industry wide framework agreements, which form the basis
of Australian Workplace Agreements (AWA) or Certified
Agreements (CA), to suit your workplace.
- Is the
point of contact for industry consultation and advice.
- Formulates

- Provides
contract advice and proformas for Australian and overseas
engagements.
- Processes
immigration applications for importation of overseas
artists and associated personnel; liaises with the Department
of Immigration, Multicultural & Indigenous Affairs
and the unions; represents members in disputed cases
- Provides
Award advice, mediation and advocacy before the AIRC
and State Commissions, advice and assistance on workplace
bargaining, unfair dismissals, and contractual arrangements.
- Maintains
an award enquiry service, covering award interpretation
and advice on all awards used in the industry.
- Provides
advice to members on non-award employment conditions
and practices in the industry.
- Takes
a proactive role in public relations and lobbying.
- Represents
the industry on boards and committees.
- Provides
a comprehensive range of industry information including
a Loose Leaf Industrial Award Service (LLIAS) which

- Represents
members in disputed cases.
- Regularly
communicates and circulates essential industry information,
including Newsletters containing a wide range of specific
and related industry issues, and surveys membership
on issues.
- Provides
networking opportunities through conferences, seminars
and workshops, collects industry data, etc.
- Organises
the entertainment industry annual national awards.
- Actively
promotes and assists the industry.
