NEW CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE TICKETING OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT IN AUSTRALIA
The review process for the Code of Practice for Event Ticketing has now been completed. The LPA Executive Council endorsed the new Code of Practice for the Ticketing of Live Entertainment in Australia at their March meeting. The new Code is effective from 1 April 2005, and has now been circulated to all LPA members. Please click here to view or print the new Code.
Many LPA members took the opportunity to give feedback on the consultation draft and the vast majority of it was positive. Some of the feedback received related to the privacy issues associated with the collection and distribution of patron data, reinforcing LPAs decision to review the Member Guidelines to the National Privacy Principles. The Review Committee considered all feedback received, and ultimately determined that no further changes to the Consultation Draft of the Code were required.
Thanks are due to the members of the Review Committee for their valuable input to the process:
- Michael Coppel, Michael Coppel Presents
- Ross Cunningham, Star City
- Peter Stirling Benson, Ticketek
- Craig McMaster, Showbiz International
- Richard Evans, The Australian Ballet
- Chris Frost, BASS SA
- Eugenie Buckley, The University of Melbourne
- Brendan Schwab, LPA Chief Executive
EMPLOYER
GUIDE TO OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE ENTERTAINMENT
INDUSTRY
LPA members will have recently received a CD which contains
the 168-page Employer Guide to Occupational Health and Safety
in the Entertainment Industry.
The aim of the Guide is to protect the health and safety of
persons from hazards and risks arising out of entertainment
activities by:
- eliminating or minimising the risks to health and safety
arising out of entertainment activities; and
- ensuring that hazards are identified and the resultant
risks to health and safety are assessed and controlled.
The Guide is a new industry standard and is intended to be
a resource for employers. It should be used as a companion
document to the Safety Guidelines for the Entertainment Industry,
which were developed by LPA and the Media Entertainment and
Arts Alliance (MEAA) in 2001. Click on Codes & Guidelines for a direct link to The Guide. |
